Korean experience adapts to national urban planning rules

The Research Institute of Technical Norms and Standardization under the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services organized an international workshop on «The Evolution of Urban Planning: Uzbekistan and Korea on the Path of Innovative Construction».

It was attended by Korean specialists, over 30 international partners, representatives of more than 70 design institutes and domestic organizations, and industry experts.

A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea and the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology on the modernization of Uzbekistan’s urban planning standards and regulations. According to the parties’ agreement under the cooperation project, a total of 256 and in 2025 — 52 urban planning norms and rules will be modernized in 2022–2025, considering the Korean experience.

Addressing the event, the Chairman of the International Contractors Association of Korea, Sunho Park, especially noted the work being carried out in Uzbekistan to improve urban planning standards and regulations, considering modern requirements.

As part of the workshop, an award ceremony was held to recognize a group of experts for their services in strengthening the cooperation project between Uzbekistan and Korea and for the results achieved in modernizing urban planning norms and regulations.

From 2022 to the present, more than 120 urban planning norms and rules have been studied together with Korean specialists. Proposals regarding fire safety and other areas are being prepared, and Korean construction experience is being brought into line with national urban planning standards and regulations.

The first stage of the project is planned to be completed in 2025, and the second stage will be implemented at an accelerated pace.
